Forward Florida is an award-winning magazine dedicated to covering statewide economic development news.

The Lake Mary-based publication was distributed to business executives, legislators in Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee, economic development professionals, site selectors, and venture capitalists.

As the magazine’s correspondent for the Alachua County area, I worked with the Forward Florida editorial team to highlight regional news. The publication covered key Florida industries such as transportation, real estate, sports, health care, education, entrepreneurship, tourism, environment, and technology.

I interviewed subject matter experts and business leaders to write timely economic development feature stories, including the three following articles:

• Pennies in Paradise

  • How Florida venture capital investment funding stacks up to other states

• Site Selection in Action

  • India-based IT Company MindTree’s expansion to Gainesville

• Gainesville Land Development

  • New facilities StarterSpace and Infinity Hall launch programs for start-ups

These articles were completed on a freelance basis for Forward Florida magazine and were published throughout the year 2014. Forward Florida magazine had a print circulation of about 10,000 copies and an estimated readership of 36,000.
