Cozinha Caseira Recipe Book

CLIENT: Personal side project
MY ROLE: Graphic Designer

“Cozinha Caseira” roughly translates to “Home Cooking” in Portuguese.

To commemorate my parents’ wedding anniversary, I created a recipe book stuffed with a blend of nostalgic comfort food and vibrant new flavors. All in all, I ended up collecting 160 recipes from family, friends, and some of our favorite chefs.

Using Adobe InDesign, I organized the book using an extensive system of master pages, paragraph styles, and character style formatting, so the book can be easily adapted in the future. I designed the cover/spine using an image of tangerines taken by Monika Grabkowska on Unsplash.

Rich colors and strong shapes improve navigability. I used a repeating triangle motif and angular typefaces. I gave each section a distinct color marker and clearly labeled each recipe with its ingredients, cooking directions, nutritional information, cook contributor credits, and other notes. The recipes are sorted into nine categories.

This 237-page recipe book was completed in spring 2021.
